Athena is the Goddess of wisdom, war and crafts. Her Symbols are the aegis, an owl, and an olive tree. Her Roman name is Minerva. She is the goddess of crafts and the domestic arts and also those of war. She was the patron goddess of Athens. Her symbol was the owl. She was originally the Great Goddess in the form of a bird. Athena aided the heroes Perseus, Jason, Cadmus, Odysseus and Heracles in their quests.

Athena and Poseidon wanted to be the patron deity of Athens. To prove her worthiness for it, she created the Acropolis, which is an olive tree that sprung up on the citadel of Athens. Poseidon tried to outdo her by striking the ground with his trident and he caused a spring of water to gush out of the ground. But the water was too salty so Athena's gift was considered more useful so she became the patron deity to Athens.
