Description:

Swift foxes are the smallest of the American foxes. The upperparts pale is buffy yellow, frosted with white and lightly washed with blackish.The back of the ears are yellowish brown. The tail is buffy gray with tip and black spot at base on upperside. They weigh 1-3kg.The length was 840mm,tail was 330mm, the hind foot was135mm andears are 75mm.

 

Diet:

They eat mostly rodents, insects, small passerine birds, lizards, amphibians, and fish. They also eat kangaroo rats, jackrabbits,cottontails, grasshoppers, Jerusalem crickets.

 

Habits:

They live in the open desert or grasslands.They have dens and hunt for food. They go hunt after sunset.They probably hunt at night.

 

Den:

They dig their den burrows more 1.5 meters deep and 3 meters long.The kit foxes carry that prey back to the den and eat them.

 

Kits pups:

The litters are born from 3-6 kits. They keep them in the den to be safe. The parents keep their youngs in the den until they are strong enough.

 

Enemies:

Coyotes are a major predator of kit foxes. Ranches and farmers prabably set up a trap in order to kill them.
