Corsac
Fox

Appearance
Corsac foxes are about the
size of ref fox.They have a body length of 20-24 in. (50-60 cm)
plus 9-14 in. (22-35cm) for the length of the tail. The body is
mostly grayish color, with whitish under parts. Their teeth are
smallin relation to their body size. Their ears, have large
triangular shape. They have a pungent odor about them, a musky
similar to red foxes.
Diet and Hunting
Corsac foxes eat mostly
rodents, and sometime insects too. They catch rodents by
leaping up into the air and pouncing on them. They locate their
prey by sound with their large ears.
Reproduction
The mating season beginning
around January. After a gestation period of 8 weeks, 2-6 kits
which each weigh 50-80g are born in a den.
Distribution
Corsac foxes inhabit the
southeast Soviet Union (Russia), Soviet and Chinese Turkestan,
Afghanistan, Mongolia, and northern Manchuria. They only live
in the semi-desert steppelands.

known as the "Steppe fox", that lives in the southeastern area
of Russia, and in central Asia.
