How it is used
Users sometimes take Ecstasy in pill form at "raves," to keep on dancing and for mood enhancement. Older teens and college students often go to raves regularly.
Short-Term Effects
Psychological difficulties including confusion, depression, sleep problems, drug craving, severe anxiety, and paranoia &endash; during and sometimes weeks after taking MDMA, physical symptoms such as muscle tension, involuntary teeth clenching, nausea, blurred vision, rapid eye movement, faintness, and chills or sweating are all serious short-term effects.
Long-Term Effects
Recent research links MDMA with long-term damage to parts of the brain that control thought and memory. Frequent use of MDMA was found, to produce long-lasting, perhaps permanent, damage to the neurons that release serotonin, and consequent memory impairment in lab animals and humans.
